An ergonomic, shock absorbing bicycle handle printed in TPU. It fits the standard 22.2 mm handle bar. With some tuning it can dampen rough roads.

Materials

  • TPU filament (TPU with hardness 95A to 85A), the softer the better!
  • ASA filament, use your strongest filament, best with UV resistance
  • Standard M4x16 cylinder head screw and nut.

Printing

Handle (TPU 95A to 85A):

  • Handle left (bike_handle-handle_left.stl)
  • Handle right (bike_handle-handle_right.stl)
    • or: Handle right, shorted to have space for the Rohloff shift lever (bike_handle-handle_right_rohloff.stl)
  • Infill: 10% (you can play around, even 0% is possible for a very soft grip)
  • Infill pattern: gyorid
  • Make the pipe-shaped part that gets clamped stronger (see picture):
    • Select Model -> Add a modifier -> Cube
    • Move so that the pipe-shaped part and the "bridge" are inside the cube
    • Change to 8 Wall loops / Perimeters for more strength
  • Print with the pipe shaped part up (picture), the stl files are already in the correct orientation.

Plug (TPU):

  • bike_handle-plug.stl
  • use your standard TPU settings

Clamp (ASA):

  • Use your strongest filament, ASA for UV resistance.
  • Clamp left (bike_handle-clamp_left.stl)
  • Clamp right (bike_handle-clamp_right.stl)
  • 8 Wall loops / Perimeters

Assembly

  • Push the M4 nut into the hex hole on the clamp. Use the screw to pull the nut completely in. Remove the screw.
  • Slip the clamp over the handle and press the clamp together. Fasten the screw until it is inside the nut.
  • Slip the handle over the handlebar and fasten the screw.
