Description
This model was inspired by my grandfather’s old wooden pencil case. It had a clever sliding mechanism that I always thought was too cool to be left in the past, so I decided to recreate it in 3D-printed form. Now, this classic style of pencil case can live on in the modern age!
While the original was a simple square block, I updated the design with a slightly more modern shape. The core functionality and nostalgic feel are still there, but with a cleaner, more contemporary look.
The sliding mechanism works best with a countersunk bolt. I didn’t have one available when I made the prototype and ended up using a flat one, but I recommend using a countersunk version if possible for smoother operation.
Since printing the version shown in the photos, I also made a few small improvements to the model. Most notably, I slightly increased the internal storage space by reducing the wall thickness, while still keeping the case strong.
A M4 heat insert into the base and a M4 countersunk screw is recommended for assembly
