*****Arminth has released V3 of this pendant here on thingiverse. His version uses an ESP8266 that greatly improves the performance of the encoder wheel and adds several enhancements. I highly suggest building his version! https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5613080*****

3/16/23 - Button Mapping and directions on how to structure the code for keypad functions are available at this link. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/173HH8YqZiV-fNRSedN56hadnbeUNPTuRooRot1piMeQ/edit?usp=sharing

3/12/23 - added knob for small encoder handwheel.

1/28/23 - Ver 1.3 firmware added. Adds multi-press on keys 1 & A to cycle through feed and axis, freeing up 6 keys for additional macros. Also added printable keypad overlays for standard key assignments for both v1.2 and v1.3 firmware.

1/15/23 - Added glue in adapter plate for small encoders. fits v1 & v2 style faceplates

v2 of my CNC Pendant for Marlin firmware (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5275301). This version uses a 0.96in OLED display to replace the LED indicators on v1.

I have this interfacing with a BTT SKR v1.3 running Marlin 2.0 firmware, but this should work with any board/firmware that supports a direct serial connection. The Arduino Nano essentially works as a gcode sender.

I'll happily help anyone that wants to try and adapt this to a different controller board to the extent of my abilities, just message me thru https://www.facebook.com/TheOrneryMaker.

Marlin 2.0.8.1 and later allows for a 3rd serial port to be specified so this can be used in addition to your TFT display and/or USB connection to octoprint/cnc.js

Parts list:

1x Arduino Nano 5v

1x 0.96 in IC2 OLED display -https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B085WCRS7C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

1x 60mm hand wheel encoder - https://www.amazon.com/Electronic-Handwheel-Industrial-consumables-Accessories/dp/B09P15Y5GR/ref=sr_1_13?crid=1BB92QXD9XOL8&keywords=encoder+60mm&qid=1646572394&sprefix=encoder+60mm%2Caps%2C57&sr=8-13

1x membrane keypad - https://www.amazon.com/YETAIDA-Arduino-Universial-Keyboard-Membrane/dp/B07Q7FW8B9/ref=sr_1_7_sspa?crid=3Q5MCPOBEKQJR&keywords=matrix+keypad+arduino&qid=1646572625&sprefix=matrix+key%2Caps%2C77&sr=8-7-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEyRlFNUjBYSTJFRTE1JmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDE2NTcwUUZGUDQyRUlJUzZOJmVuY3J5cHRlZEFkSWQ9QTA1ODU5MjEyQ1BaOTNPR0E2R0c4JndpZGdldE5hbWU9c3BfbXRmJmFjdGlvbj1jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

pin headers and connectors

Below parts are optional for flashing the nano without removing cover from the pendant

1x mini/micro/C type USB cable 8in or longer (depends on your Nano plug)

1x female USB connector (I used micro, you can use any spec you want but will need to modify the housing) - https://www.amazon.com/HiLetgo-Adapter-Connector-Converter-pinboard/dp/B07W844N43/ref=sr_1_4?crid=3PON1PGHHFHCY&keywords=micro+usb+female&qid=1646534939&sprefix=micro+usb+female%2Caps%2C63&sr=8-4

READ THE CODE BEFORE YOU ATTACH TO YOUR DEVICE. Baud rate will likely need to be changed to that of your control board and if you are using a touch probe it is important to set the thickness of the plate. This pendant is not inherently dangerous, but not using your head when running a cnc, or any power tool, is, make sure you test before putting yourself in a position to wreck your machine or your body part!
