I didn’t like the standard CoreOne spool holder, so I designed my own.
Capabilities
Larger spool holder shield so the spool does not fall off as easily
Supports different spool lengths 7.5-14 cm:
- Default: 7.5 cm
- RecommendedMax: 12 cm
- Maximum: 14 cm
Tested so far only with 1 kg spools – heavier spools have not yet been tried
When fully closed, it has the same size as the default CoreOne spool holder, so it does not stick out on the side
Dimensions
Minimum spool hole radius: 49.8 mm! Otherwise, you have to unscrew the shield part, put the spool on it, and tighten it again.
Assembly
Please refer to the picture I uploaded. The upper and lower parts of the spool both have the same anticlockwise thread direction, while the central screw and the Lower parts inner Hole has a clockwise thread. This ensures the fixture cannot loosen itself, since the filament spool’s feeding rotation naturally tightens the assembly instead of unscrewing it.
👉 Tip: I recommend screwing in the bolts before mounting the holder on the side panel, as the screws cut their threads directly into the plastic. Doing this in advance makes installation much easier.
Note
I’d really appreciate feedback on how it works with other spool sizes and weights, so I can further improve the design. 🙂
