I saw Julius Curt’s enclosure project based on Ikea Vårsyren lantern and was facinated by the idea, only at that moment I needed larger enclosure with good cooling capabilities for my spot welder project. Therefore I decided to utilize both sheet metal panels for a single box, preserving the original design, but achieving roughly 4x more volume (exterior dimensions are 122mm x 110mm x 117mm). The assembly is quite straight-forward, after all the fasteners and sheet metal pieces are in place, you can safely remove the bottom - the structure will not collapse. I included .step file for custom modifications, as every single project needs different openings for screens, buttons and wires, so it's up to you to edit it however you like.
PARTS TO PRINT
2 x Side panels
2 x Side spacers
2 x Corner spacers
1 x Bottom frame
1 x Bottom panel
FASTENERS
I have replaced self-tapping screws with a brass insert-M3 screw combo everywhere, because I intended to use quite heavy MOT transformer, but self-tapping screws should be more convenient for more ligtweight projects.
You will need 16x brass inserts shorter than 7mm and 16x M3 screws shorter than 8mm.
