“I modified the original model (https://www.printables.com/model/396416-ender-3-pro-front-electronics-enclosure) to have a flat front face and added mounts for a Raspberry Pi (3–4) as well as two LM2596 buck converters (or similar).”
Both single-piece and split-part versions are uploaded (the latter is suitable for smaller printers).
The enclosure lid includes an opening designed for an 80 mm fan.(I’m using an LM2596 to reduce the speed and keep the noise at a tolerable level)
The design requires feet on the Ender 3, as the board’s cooling fan is positioned outside the lid. I’m using feet from: Ender-3 Pro Voron-Themed Electronics Enclosure.
Notes & Suggestions:
- Due to the limited space, 90° cables are required: one Type-A to Mini for motherboard–Raspberry Pi connection, and one Micro-USB for powering the Raspberry Pi.
- If you’re using a buck converter to power the Raspberry Pi, I recommend the XL4015 instead of the LM2596 (3A vs 2A current).
- For the left 4040 profile, I used this endcap: 4040 Double Slot V-Slot Cap.
- Possibly due to the carbon-fiber filament I used, the fit was very tight on the Ender 3 Pro. Printing at 99.5% scale gave a better result.
- The enclosure lid mounting points require M4 threaded inserts.
