Some building block toys I designed based on some I saw in a toy store. They are each 1 inch cubes, the lid can be pressed on (no glue).
Each cube requires 1 body, 1 spacer, 1 lid, and 8 buckyballs. I made these with some old sets I had lying around, so the branded ones might be a bit expensive for this project. You should be able to use 4mm x 3mm magnets, but I have not tested.
- put 1 buckyball in each corner of the cube
- place the spacer into the cube and push it down
- place 1 buckyball in each corner again
- press the lid onto the cube
- repeat until you have enough to building something
