The IKEA PERSHULT brackets are designed so that two brackets can be mounted in tandem to create multiple shelves. However when using only a single bracket, the space left on the underside of the bracket to allow for this stacking means the mounting point is floating away from the wall. When screwed in, the metal bar will dig into the wall (see second photo).
This is a simple spacer/washer that keeps the bracket straight and acts as a bit of a shock mount.
Printed in white TPU, not noticeable once installed.
