I wanted better lighting options for my workbench, without having to purchase expensive extruded aluminum. So, using ~$25 in dowels, I created this overhead lighting system. It also allows me to mount my camera overhead, or swap out for more lighting / components. I mounted some cheapo walmart LED lights and daisychained their power cords. The round clamps that they are mounted to have a cam style latch that allows for adjustment. I included a picture of the overhead view to give an idea for low amount of shadows created.
Hardware required:
8: M3 heatset insert nuts and ~15mm bolts (vertical to horizontal dowel clamp)
2-3: ¼-20 x ¾" bolt w/ nuts (light mounts)
2: ¼-20 x 2" bolt w/ nuts (table clamps)
The vertical clamps have a ¼ 20" inset and through hole to mount components to. I used a thumb screw for the lights and a socket cap screw for the camera. The corner brackets use M3 bolts and heat sink inserts for the clamps.
I included the mount component for a full frame camera (arca swiss / Peak Design mount). This is balanced for my R6 to not cause excessive torque/moment on the mount.
Recommend to print in ABS/PETG due to stress creep of PLA.
