Gridfinity 3.5" HDD Storage System
A practical and compact HDD storage solution designed to keep 3.5" hard drives organized safely inside standard IKEA drawers — Gridfinity-compatible and optimized for efficient cold storage.
Overview
I designed this HDD storage system because I needed a way to keep my 3.5" hard drives neatly organized inside a drawer — so they had to be inserted from the top. The design follows the Gridfinity standard, but instead of magnets, I chose to use mounting screws, since magnets aren’t suitable for hard drives.
To make backup management easier, I added letters (A–G) on the side to help identify each drive quickly. Rounded and chamfered edges make inserting and removing drives smooth and safe.
The first prototype used a bit too much filament, so I refined the design to reduce material usage and print time while maintaining structural integrity.
Vertical Insertion Version 3x6
This is the improved lightweight version of the original model, optimized for vertical HDD storage inside standard IKEA drawers. Each drive slides in from the top, resting securely without pressure on the connectors.

Horizontal Insertion Version 4x6
A new variant designed for drawers with limited height clearance. In this version, HDDs are inserted horizontally, making it ideal for setups where vertical space is tight.

Be aware: you can freely adjust parameters if additional rigidity is needed. This print is intended for cold storage — it just sits in a drawer, and drives are removed only occasionally.
