This insert can hold a Devourer pledge in four boxes, including space for the extra Galactus head/arm.
Total insert was about two spools of filament. Pictures do not indicate the final print. Also, my Robo 3D printer died near the end of this process so print quality in the pictures is questionable. Amounts of how much to print are in the file name ("name x 3" means print 3).
PROS
Simplicity - once everything is in, you do not need a guide to put it away again.
Galactus - The extra head and arm now have a home in the Sentinel box (with 10mm lid lift)
Facilitates set-up - Tokens to set up are organized in one box & players can simply choose their color and have everything they need. Additionally, cards that belong with a mini are stored with them, reducing the need to search through different stacks.
Facilitates gameplay - There is a detachable token tray that can sit on the table to provide tokens needed during the game. Enemy boxes can sit on the table and provide easy access during spawning
Accommodates plastic or cardboard tokens - with a storage tray for the extra cardboard tokens if not in use.
Vertical or horizontal storage is possible
Keeps non frequently used items (sentinels and Galactus) in a separate box to reduce clutter
It is free!
CONS
Most other insert solutions are three boxes but this one is four to accommodate Galactus
Some inserts store Heroes' Resistance but I prefer to keep that as a separate game, but some clever remixing could easily fit it in with a bit of lid lift.
Familiarity with the characters is a must in terms of finding the mini, especially if unpainted. There are some lane labels on Printables that should work nicely with the mini trays, however.
Enemy mini boxes might unnerve some but it's the best way to not slow the game down and if painted minis are varnished, they'll be fine. (Check out Goobertown Hobby's video on the topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WS4bOtXeKGI )
NOTES FOR REMIXERS
This should be an easy remix for when DCeased arrives
A better mini tray would be to have every row facing another row to allow for larger minis to fit anywhere. On the 3 lane mini trays, keeping the bottom lane and fusing the second lane onto the bottom of the top lane (with reinforcement) would be better in my opinion.
Tips are greatly appreciated! They would go to the purchase of more filament which would allow for the creation of more inserts... I'm particularly keen to make one for Rise of Moloch and Project Elite. Thank you!
& Thank you TShelley on Printables! Mini trays are a remix of a remix of yours!
