This camera casing is designed to be an affordable and effective waterproof camera module holder! This module is compatible with a wide range of generic camera modules, such as the ones shipped with Eagle Ray ROV kits, and the one linked below: https://www.amazon.com/Arducam-Computer-Fisheye-Microphone-Windows/dp/B07ZS75KZR/ref=sr_1_6
Required materials:
- 2" acrylic dome
- 6x M5x30mm screw
- 6x M3 Square nuts
- RTV or other flexible gasket maker
- Epoxy or other sealant
Warnings:
- Machining the base out of a solid material (CNC) is recommended. If the base is 3D printed, you will need to make sure there is no way for water to seep into the camera through the base. This can fog up your image and/or ruin the electronics.
- Make sure the plug for the camera module aligns with the channel. You may need to mirror the base before printing/machining.
Installation instructions:
- Seal up the base if you haven't already
- Run the USB cable through the base and plug it into the camera
- Mount the camera into the base
- Apply RTV gasket maker around the perimeter of the base, ensuring the screw holes are surrounded
- Sandwich the components together as shown in the second picture and tighten everything down
This module was designed and utilized by the Allan Hancock College UROV team “Deep Sea Dogs” for the 2025 MATE ROV competition.
