I designed a clamp and shoe to hold a nylon roller against a cam, to drive an automaton.

In building automata, I have designed a new way to set up a cam roller. This one is based on a ½" nylon spacer, commonly found in robotics hardware. You can buy these on Amazon, or if you are not using Amazon, buy them here: https://www.robosource.net/robot-parts/spacers-washers/23-nylon-spacer-0500. The axle for the nylon cylinder is a steel dowel pin I had on hand, a metric one that measures 5x24mm. It's a perfect fit for this spacer-turned-roller.
To assemble, slip the pin through the cylinder inserted into the clamp, centering it. Then slide the shoe on over the clamp from the top. The shoe should be a tight fit, but there should be a little play in the roller, which protrudes just a bit from the bottom, so it can turn freely. Use whatever dowel works for your purposes in the top. It's set up for either a round or square quarter-inch dowel, wood or metal.
You do need to use support on the clamp part. I've shown the orientation for printing in the pictures.
