About this design:

I was looking for an enclosure that would visually match my Bluesound Powernode, but couldn't find one that fit my needs, so I designed my own.

Updates:

  • 2026-06-02: Added an optional bottom part designed for the VTom Radio PCB,

  • 2026-06-02: Improved the main case - now easier to print and mount with bottom part,

  • 2026-05-19: Added an extra knob option (40mm):

What you'll need:

Hardware:

  • 90x64mm smoked acrylic sheet (3mm thick),

  • standard rotary encoder,

  • 40mm diameter knob (3D printed or commercially available metal knob),

  • C14 power inlet with fuse holder (27x31mm) (or other - use the blank version of bottom enclosure),

  • anti-slip foam pads,

  • M3 self-tapping screws,

  • M3 screws with nuts,

  • nylon standoffs for PCBs.

Electronics (optional):

  • custom PCB (power supply + ESP32).

  • PCM5102A DAC module,

  • ST7796 IPS display,

  • WiFi antenna.

Assembly:

1. Top enclosure:

  • install the smoked acrylic panel (90x64mm, 3mm) - I've used T7000 glue,

  • mount the rotary encoder,

  • carefully mount the screen with M3 self-tapping screws,

  • attach the 40mm knob.

2. Bottom enclosure:

  • install your PCB using the mounting holes and nylon standoffs,

  • install the DAC using holder,

  • install the C14 power inlet,

  • install the WiFi antenna.

3. Final assembly:

  • secure top and bottom halves with M3 screws,

  • insert anti-slip foam pads into each foot.

Printing tip: printed with fuzzy skin and Hilbert curve on the top.
