I made this prop for a local film production. This design is made to accommodate backlighting LEDs for a realistic effect. I split the body for faster printing and no supports.
Assembly:
- Glue the top to the upper part of the middle one. Make sure the tiny windows for the latch in the body are facing down.
LED and finishing (optional):
- Cover the inside walls with anything super reflective to make the lighting uniform. I cleaned some doritos packaging that had been laying in some corner for a few months and it worked like a charm. To make it nice and even, I glued a sanded piece of plastic on the inside of the fingerprint, so the light is nicely diffused.
- With the diffusion, any kind of light source inside it should look good. I bought a pack of mini LED's for birthday balloons, which came with batteries and a switch, so I just glued them to the bottom.
Printer and settings:
Printed with an Elegoo Neptune 4 Pro - 0.4mm nozzle. Sliced in Orca.
- 0.5mm walls for the best looking results, either on PLA or PETG.
