About this design:
This is an enclosure for an alarm clock featuring an LCD screen and a rotary encoder. The base code is derived from the GitHub project Crescendo Clock. The code has been modified to work with a standard ESP32-WROOM module. The original light sensor was removed in favor of a simpler brightness control based on the time of day.Additionally, I have integrated current weather data from OpenWeatherMap.org.
What you'll need:
- ESP32 with internal WiFi antenna
- 2.8” LCD (ST7789 or similar)
- speaker
- DFPlayer Mini MP3 player (with SD card)
- standard rotary encoder
- 32mm diameter knob
- anti-slip foam pads
- M3 self-tapping screws
- M3 screws with nuts
- USB-C nut-locking connector
Assembly:
Main enclosure:
- Install the LCD screen (using glue is the easiest way)
- Install the speaker (using glue is the easiest way)
- Mount the rotary encoder
- Attach the 32mm knob
Back enclosure:
- Install the DFPlayer Mini on its holder
- Install the USB-C connector
Final assembly:
- Secure the back enclosure with M3 self-tapping screws
- Adhere the anti-slip foam pads firmly to the bottom surface of the main enclosure
