I made this model for our lockpicking group - https://t.me/autopsy_wt - to better show and explain how disc detainer locks work on the inside during lockpicking villages we organize.

The model discs use a standard rectangular key, but are based on Abloy Classic discs, so there are six possible positions ranging from 0 to 90 degrees in 18 degree increments. The classic discs are labeled 1 to 6 from 90 to 0 degrees, although only 3 different types of disks are needed as you can get an opposing one simply by mirroring it (1 turns into 6, 2 into 5, 3 into 4).

The provided key's code is 1-4-3-2-2-1, so you need to print two pieces of each disc and align them accordingly.

Also, if you have an AMS, you can print a logo that fits in the hole of the lock body simply as a pressed-in part. Our model has it :)

If you want to somehow modify the model - the step files are provided.

Material used: PLA

Printing notes:

  • use appropriate XY compensation settings, as no gap was used between parts during modeling to simplify it

  • the dimensions were also based on Abloy Classic, so print in 300% scale for a better visualization

  • print the retaining washer in the same 300% XY scale, but use less than 250% Z scale as due to supports in lock body, fitment issues will arise

  • if the disc stack doesn't fit, resize the height of spacers and reprint them to waste less plastic
