I created this small DIY project to make handling cable coils much easier. The goal was simple: prevent the cable from tangling while pulling it out.
The housing is made from a reused filament spool box, combined with the side plates from a filament spool and a printed internal mechanism.
To further reduce tangling, I reused the side plates from an empty filament spool. These act as stabilizers, keeping the cable coil centered and preventing it from shifting during handling. The result is noticeably smoother unwinding and practically no mess.
The 3D-printed insert holds the coil in place while allowing it to rotate freely.
The cable exits through a hole in the lid, so you can pull out exactly the length you need without the coil jumping around or getting tangled.
