Motivation

I wanted to start designing a few accessories for my xTool F2 Ultra UV but needed a template to use as a basis those designs.

Solution

Measure, record, and design a template.

Updates

   v1.1

  • Added detailed labels for the rotary marking lines as referenced in the Design section.

   v1.2

  • New! Added the following Parametrically customizable linked components (pictured below):

    • xTool provided parts (defaults match the parts as provided by xTool)

      • xTool Positioning Piece

        • Just like the provided Positioning Piece, the screw holes have threads and the geometry necessary to captively hold the original Positioning Block Thumbscrews provided with the F2 Ultra/Ultra UV.

        • The length and width can be customized for any number of grids. Update the extrusion for the support ribs to select the desired profiles.

      • xTool Positioning Block Thumbscrew (mostly for display and clearance checks in Fusion)

    • (Courtesy of Phil Rolfe) Mag-align jig system with the following features and default configurations

      • Receiver - The part with the magnetic interface that is screwed down to the F2 Ultra baseplate

        • The magnetic interface will remain compatible with the original standard by leaving the parameters starting with _MagneticInterface at their default values.

        • The magnet slots are configured for embedded printing by default. This can be changed along with the size and number of magnets. If you prefer to glue your magnets, set the MagnetSetback parameter to 0.

        • The screw holes have threads and the geometry necessary to captively hold the original Positioning Block Thumbscrews provided with the F2 Ultra/Ultra UV.

      • JigTemplate - The basic Fusion features for designing any jig to magnetically interface with the receiver

      • JigWorkAreaFront - Provides a way to align a workpiece to the front edge of the working area. With optional embedded magnets, it also provides and interface closer to the work area for designing jigs without having to design this unusable space into each jig.

      • JigRotaryFences - Connects to the JigWorkAreaFront component to align the front edge of the RA2 L-shaped module with the F2 Ultra RA2 Group 4 rotary marking lines. It can be easily modified to align with any other rotary marking line.

   v1.3

  • New! Added a BaseplateAll sketch which projects all baseplate geometry into a single sketch for use as a design template. This is also exported as xToolF2UltraTemplate_BaseplateAllReferenceGeometry.dxf, .ai, and .svg available in the files section.

   v1.4

  • UltraJig - Parametric xTool F2 Ultra Modular Sliding Fence and Jig System

  • Mag-align

    • New! Extenders! These nest with the Mag-align WorkAreaFront jig and each other providing a flexible way to extend Mag-align closer to the workbed center depending on the size of your Mag-align jig and workpiece.

      • Separate Fusion files are provided for further customization of your own Extenders if the provided models are not what you need:

        • 1U - 1 unit deep (Default - 5.0 mm) with a single row of magnets shared on the front and back faces

        • XU - customizable depth with a row of magnets on the front and back faces. The depth is configured as a multiple of the 1U StepSize (Default - 5.0 mm). One strategy is to use powers of 2 (e.g., 2U, 4U, 8U, 16U) so that the spacers can be stacked to achieve any multiple of the StepSize. 1U, 2U, 4U, and 8U models are included.

        • Each 1U Step Size is indicated with a recess on the end of the Extenders

      • Compatibility with UltraJig accessories!

    • New! Countersunk Screw Receiver. Allows the enclosure to close well enough to block the laser from escaping (the inside lip of the enclosure still contacts the receiver)
