❤ Introduction
Hi, after several years since my previous hydroponic tower and after refining the concept, I created a new model based on my earlier project and new experiences:
Original Hydrophonics – Moduled Tower
https://www.printables.com/model/178619-hydrophonics-moduled-tower
The original design proved to be functional, but over time I wanted to improve modularity, structural stability, ease of assembly, and long-term usability. Another important goal was to remove several issues present in the original design.
This new version is a refined and expanded evolution of the original concept, featuring:
clearer separation of functional modules
improved stacking logic
better support for structural reinforcement
more flexible height and spacing options
a dedicated module for custom attachments (e.g. grow lights)
Fixed issues (hopefully 🙂):
plant roots overgrowing inside individual modules
water leaks between modules
insufficient structural strength
The goal of this project is to provide a simple, scalable, and maker-friendly hydroponic tower that anyone can print, assemble, and customize to fit their own growing setup.
🌱 Key Features
Fully modular & stackable design
Designed for PETG/PLA (water‑resistant and food‑safe variants recommended)
Easy assembly
Compatible with standard hydroponic pumps, pots (5cm) and tubing
Scalable: add or remove modules freely
Printable on Prusa MINI+
📦 Included 3D Models
1 Bottom_Module
Purpose:
Serves as the base of the entire tower
Sits on reservoit with water and water pump
Important notes:
This module must always be the bottom-most part
Designed to sit on a flat surface of reservoir lid
Internal water channel for water pipe

2 Base_Module
Purpose:
Main growing module for plants
Each module contains 2 plant slots for hdyroponic cups Ø5cm
Features:
Internal water channel for water pipe
Can be stacked repeatedly to increase plant capacity
Image:

3 Space_Modul
Purpose:
Creates vertical spacing between Base_Modules
Useful for plants with larger leaves or roots
Features:
No plant slots
Can be stacked multiple times
Internal water channel for water pipe
Ring for M4 inserts to add custom attachments e.g. growing lights
Image:

4 Space_half_Module
Purpose:
Half-height spacing module
Allows fine height adjustments
Typical use:
Between Base_Module and Top_Module
For optimizing plant clearance
Internal water channel for water pipe
Image:

5 Top_Module
Purpose:
Final module at the top of the tower
Entry point for the water hose from the pump
Important notes:
Must always be the top module
Distributes nutrient solution downward through the tower
Internal water channel for water pipe exit
Mesh for eaqual water distribution and overflow hole in the middle

🛠 Assembly Guide
Step 0 – Prepare the modules
Each module has a holes on the front side which are ment for M4 inserts, which can be later use with Connector to fasten the modules together
On top and bottom side of each module are small holes for cylinder magnets 8x10mm which can be use for holding and aligning the modules
Step 1 – Prepare the Base
Place Bottom_Module on a reservoir lid
Screw the Module to the lid - you can use Barel_Holder
Step 2 – Stack Growing Modules
Add Base_Module(s) on top of the Bottom_Module
Insert Space_Modul or Space_half_Module as needed
Add magnets between the modules into designated holes or use plastic Pins to support the structure
Add Connector from the front side of the modules to fasten them together
Step 3 – Install the Top
Place Top_Module at the very top of the structure
Insert the water hose from your pump through the tower into the Top_Module inlet. I recommend using a Ø18 mm steel pipe to reinforce the structure from the Bottom_Module to the Top_Module; the plastic water hose from the pump can be routed inside this pipe. Steel pipe can be hold in place by adding M4 inserts from the back of the modules and adding M4 screw.
Step 4 – Final Checks
Ensure all modules are aligned correctly
Verify unobstructed water flow
