I get annoyed whenever I get low battery or frequent disconnections from my Ecobee room sensors. This print is a conversion from CR2032 style batteries to AAA batteries.

This project requires an electrical solder.

The AAA battery housing is built for these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CHNL95TX?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title

Disassembly

  • Twist to unlock the clear stand from the back of the Ecobee sensor.

  • Remove the battery then use a pry tool to loosen the 4 clips that keep the halves together.

  • Push the sensor board up from the back to remove it from the housing. There is some sticky tape that keeps it in.

Reassembly

  • Insert the AAA battery holder into the battery housing. Make sure to feed the wires through the pass through hole.

  • Feed the battery wires through the side of the sensor mount and out of the sensor front.

  • You can choose to glue the sensor mount to the battery housing now or after the wires have been soldered to the sensor board.

  • Glue the sensor mount to the top of the battery housing.

  • Solder the battery wires to the battery terminals. The RED wire connects to the side terminal, while the BLACK wire needs to be soldered to the bottom prongs. (One prong is enough.)

  • Loop the excess wire into the back housing and pop in the sensor.

  • Snap on the sensor cover.
