This STL file contains a 3D model of an acoustic deflector designed for the internal speaker of the Icom IC-735 transceiver. The purpose of the deflector is to improve sound dispersion, reduce direct high-frequency beaming, and minimize enclosure resonances.

The geometry features rounded edges and filleted transitions to prevent unwanted acoustic reflections and to improve airflow around the speaker surface. All external and internal edges are smoothed to reduce diffraction effects and eliminate sharp resonance points.

The deflector includes a dedicated anti-resonance cutout, positioned to break up standing waves inside the speaker cavity. This cutout helps reduce mid-frequency coloration and improves overall audio clarity during operation.

The main deflecting surface is designed with an approximate 45-degree tilt angle, directing sound energy outward and slightly upward toward the operator. This improves perceived loudness and speech intelligibility, especially when the radio is positioned below ear level.

Side walls incorporate small ventilation gaps (approx. 2–3 mm) to allow controlled acoustic leakage and prevent pressure buildup behind the deflector. Where applicable, internal cut edges are also slightly rounded to maintain consistent acoustic behavior.

The model is optimized for FDM 3D printing without support material when printed in the recommended orientation.

Typical recommended print parameters:

  • Layer height: 0.2 mm

  • Infill: 20–30%

  • Material: PLA or PETG

  • Nozzle: 0.4 mm

The design prioritizes acoustic performance while maintaining mechanical simplicity and print reliability.
