Magnetic Dock for Clip-A-Cap: The Modular Accessory System
Clip-A-Cap is a modular mounting platform that transforms almost any headwear (including baseball caps, straw hats, thick winter beanies, and more) into a versatile, hands-free tool station. Built on a specialized "Claw & Ball" friction-fit system, the possibilities for customization are virtually endless.
Whether you’re working, reading, or exploring, Clip-A-Cap keeps everything within reach and your hands completely free.
📂 Current Attachment: Encapsulated Magnetic Dock
This attachment turns your hat into a magnetic staging area. Unlike other mounts, this design is intended to fully encapsulate the magnets inside the print for a clean, professional finish with no glue required.
DIY & Maintenance: Hold screws, nails, or washers on your hat brim while you're on a ladder or working under a sink. No more holding hardware in your teeth!
Bit & Tool Staging: Keep a spare driver bit or a small hex key "docked" on your head for quick swaps during a project.
Triple-Strength Hold: Designed to house a stack of three magnets, providing a deep magnetic field that can hold heavier items securely even while you move your head.
🛠 Hardware & Assembly (Important!)
This mount is specifically engineered for a stack of three 20x2mm circular magnets. Because the magnets are trapped inside the plastic, you must follow these steps:
Required Hardware: 3x Neodymium Magnets (20mm Diameter x 2mm Thick).
The "Pause-and-Drop" Method: You must program a Pause at Height (or Color Change) in your slicer at the layer just before the "roof" of the magnet cavity begins.
Installation: Drop the three magnets into the cavity during the pause and resume the print to seal them in forever.
Pro Tip: If your print head is magnetic, the magnets might try to jump up and stick to the nozzle! Use a tiny dab of glue stick or a piece of painters tape to keep them seated until the printer covers them.
⚠ Required: Base Hat Clip
To use this attachment, you must first print the Base Hat Clip. It is the foundation of the system.

⚙ Print Settings
Filament: TPU 95A (Highly recommended). The flexibility of TPU provides a superior "silent" magnetic dock and great impact resistance.
Walls/Perimeters: 3 Walls (Crucial for ensuring the magnets don't wear through the internal cavity).
Resolution: 0.2mm
Infill: 30%
Supports: No
STEP File: Included in the "Files" section if you need to adjust for different magnet thicknesses.
⚖ Disclaimer
Please Read Carefully: This design uses powerful magnets. Keep away from pacemakers, credit cards, and sensitive electronics. Because the magnets are fully encapsulated, they cannot be removed once the print is finished. Use of this design is at your own risk.
Safety Notice: This device is small and may be a choking hazard for children.
