The Douglas DC-4 was a four-engine, long-range propeller aircraft developed in the early 1940s that became one of the most important transport planes of its time. First flown in 1942, it served extensively during World War II as the C-54 Skymaster and later helped airlines expand international routes in the postwar years. Known for its reliability, solid performance, and large cargo capacity, the DC-4 played a key role in establishing modern long-distance air travel and remains a significant aircraft in aviation history.
