I bought a second hand cue and it had no tip. I bought new tips and glued one on then proceeded to sand it, following a youtube video...
Turns out I'm not good at shaping cue tips as it wasn't very straight. So I decided to build a simple shaper and 3D print it.
Completely out of PETG, 0.3mm draft , 15% infill. I printed it on its side with a support inforcer to confine supports only to the hole for the cue tip. I can insert strips of 12mm sand paper and shape the tip with ease. I typically place the sharpener on the floor between my feet and rotate the cue like I'm starting a fire. When the sandpaper wears out I pull a little more through and carry on.. like an old school cap gun. Works better than I expected. I've made it about the size of cue chalk, so it will fit in cue cases or wherever you typically keep your chalk.
