This is a hand-held i-cord making tool.
It was an early design when I was just starting to learn Onshape so it has a few deficiencies. In particular, the fit of the pin/socket retainers is a bit tight as I did not incorporate enough tolerance. Sanding them down will work fine, or even drilling out the sockets to 5mm if necessary. Thermal fitting also works.
Three knitting machine hooks are embedded between the two printed halves, which are then glued together. I recommend sanding the parts smooth. For nicest feel, optionally add a little filler compound or a thin epoxy resin coat, then re-sand.
Non-printed parts required
This design requires 3 knitting machine hooks. 1.27mm (0.05") wide, 86.5mm total length, exact model unknown.
Onshape model
This part was modeled in Onshape. You can access the original model here if you want to modify it. It should be pretty straightforward to do a 4-hook version for example, or modify it to fit different hooks.
