________

This design is a variation on my design https://www.printables.com/model/1644531-eyeglass-case-mk4, featuring interchangeable inserts for different types of spectacle arms. The aim was to secure the spectacles by the arms rather than resting them on the lenses, so that the lenses do not get scratched.

The matching inserts can be printed separately from medium-soft or hard TPU with minimal infill and inserted into the recess. It is also very easy to design your own custom inserts. The glasses holder is based on a cylinder with a diameter of 13 mm and a length of 32 mm; this is inserted into the side of the holder.

The case can be printed vertically on the print bed without any supports or overhangs. For me, this worked very well with PETG and ASA; with some PLA filaments, it was difficult to break away the support layer at the hinges. When opening the case for the first time, a 5-pence coin comes in handy for carefully prying open the clasp. You can then carefully continue to open the lid until the sacrificial layer in the hinges breaks. The inserts for the glasses arms should be printed from a flexible material, e.g. TPU, such as Extrudr Flex Hard.

The blue sample was printed using Spectrum ASA-CF, the grey one done with eSun PLA+.
