Multi-Function Desiccant Bin for Qidi Box.

Compatible with regular 1kg filament spools, fits Ø200mm and 52~70mm wide spools.

Capable for up to 1kg desiccant. Yes, it's big. :)

Quick to remove and attach, so you can easily swap desiccant.

Removeable Top Cover, for easy accessing.

Its side walls can act as spool guider to prevent spools sway in the slots.

Comes with No_Fan version and Fan version.

With Fan version, you could add air circulation fans for better and even T&H in the chamber. Four 3010 fans can be mounted on the top cover. The fans can be connected in parallel with Box's internal fans and run simultaneously, or add another switch and control board to run seperately. It's up to you. However, this option does require some electronical hands on experience and tools. And of course, you'll need to open the case to work on it as well.

NOTE: The Desiccant Granules need to be greater than 2mm in diameter, >3mm would be better.  Thanks to borowiecki @borowiecki_2885821 who brought it up. :)

Printing Tips

Print with heat resistant material. I personally print with ABS.

Generally, print with 4-wall, 0.2mm layer height. Personally I set my Bridge Flow to 1.5,  Speed 10mm/s and Bridge Counterbore hole is set to None. And I let the prints(ABS) slowly cool down (with a gcode script) after printing for at least 4 hours before taking it out of the printer.

The main body of the model is seperated in two pieces, left part and right part, as well as the Support Bracket, which are in 3MF file format. Specially designed dedicated printing supports are provided for high quality printing. Setup the supports seperately in slicer's Objects page. Personally I setup it with 1-wall, 15% Grid or Triangles infill, 2 bottom layers, 1 top layer.

Technically, all the models can be printed with one plate on Q2. However, I printed with 3-plate myself.

Installation

To put the parts together is pretty straight forward. The only trick is that the left and right parts have long side clips along the back wall, snap them together starting from the bottom.

Two heat insert nuts need to be inserted before mounting with Base Connection Block.

Middle wall mounting.

This picture demonstrates how the Support Bracket supports and works with the bottom of the Desiccant Bin. The Heat Insert Nuts are for mounting the Support Bracket with the Qidi Box at the place where the original small desiccant baskets were. Note the POGO PIN connectors are installed for Fan version only. The optional magnets were originally designed for holding the Desiccant Bin more secure and for better contact of the connectors. I left them there just in case if there would be some future usages.

No_Fan Version

Fan Version

There are clips and slots designed for organizing wires on Fan Housing and Top Cover.

FYI, Personally I connected two fan together in parallel as one group on one top cover. So there are two groups of fans.

The top view of the fans have been connected and placed waiting for connecting to the bottoms POGO PIN Female connectors.

Attaching to the Qidi BOX

Attaching the Desiccant Bin to the Qidi BOX is fairly simple. There are three ear type squared posts located at the back. Simply push upward the Desiccant Bin and slot them into the gap between the box's cover and back wall. Then push the bin against the back wall and let it sit on the Support Brackets. Done!
