I had some porch railings that were treated 2x4s that did not hold paint well. I slipped composite covers over the bottom posts and designed clips to attach to the porch and a custom post cover. I designed a drill guide for drilling clearance holes thinking I would add bolts into inserts but I ended up not using bolts as the clip seems very secure.

Eventually I will print everything in white PETG. Photos show some prototype parts in blue.

The porch support and top clip are joined with a 8mm bolt. I designed post clip to use M5 inserts and bolts but did not use them. I used a variety of decking screws for attaching to the porch, railing, and post.

My bottom posts were already cut to approx 37 degrees. If your posts were different you could use included F360 file to remix.
