This is a tool used for painting dots that prevent birds from running into windows. Over 1 billion birds run into windows every year worldwide but many solutions to this cost a whole lot so this is a DIY sustainable solution to that problem. The dots are 2.125 inches apart, this design is based off of 'Solar Gard Saint-Gobain WingSafe™ Black Dot'. The idea is that the birds see the dots and dont think they can fly through.
What youll need:
-a stage 1 and stage 2 file printed
-paint or a paint marker (still figuring out which kind is best and theres such thing as glass paint but any outdoor paint should work)
-a level (optional but encouraged)
-a ladder can be helpful
Instructions:
-clean and prep the window making sure its decently dry
-print the stage 1 tool (there are two versions of everything right now, one that can be used with 3d printed screws or the version you can use with a rubber band, ill be making a version with neither soon.)
-print the stage 2
-strap a level onto the stage one tool
-go out to whatever window you want to paint (the big thing is if you have any windows that are high up that you can reach, or any that are particularity reflective)
-align & paint the first 2 dots
-use the stage 2 tool to paint the rest using the previous ones & the level to align the rest
-repeate until the window is covered!
Still a work in progress so any feedback is welcome! ( heres the onshape link if you want to edit things: https://cad.onshape.com/documents/26bc33343512453d76da73b4/w/58de4c310574c2175ec055cd/e/6b9c18922cca61a7900ba03b?renderMode=0&uiState=69f89d4cb6e7049f5b8696c2
