The Quality Pint battery box was designed to take advantage of the extra volume allowed by the TFL B.A.N.G. Bumpers to fit a custom 27s1p 21700 MOOD Frame battery pack, with space for an Ennoid XLITE-V4 32 BMS, a generic 5V LED strip, and a Future Motion GT S-series charge port.
Design Features:
REQUIRES TFL B.A.N.G. Bumpers! NOT compatible with stock Pint X/S bumpers!
Fits a full GT S-series configuration battery pack in the Pint X/S frame!
Optimized for MOOD Frame battery packs.
Compatible with the stock Future Motion GT S-series charge port.
2.25mm minimum wall thickness throughout the box.
Optimized tire clearance while still allowing a larger battery pack.
Standard Pint LED window for a 128mm LED strip.
Button head screws were chosen for maximum clamping strength without damaging the plastic box.
All threads are in the lid, zero threaded inserts!
CNC lid protects the battery from rider weight.
CNC Instructions:
Order the lid from a service such as JLC or Xometry from anodized 6061 aluminum. Be sure to include the threads diagram PDF.
Print Instructions:
Print the box in the strongest material you have access to. I recommend ordering a Nylon SLS print from JLC or Xometry for best results and durability.
Print the gasket in a soft, compressible filament such as 85a TPU. A harder durometer such as 95a will not compress as much and thus have a weaker seal, and will risk stripping threads as you close up the box.
Assembly Instructions:
You will need the following screws to assemble the box:
M3 x 10mm button head (quantity: 6 screws)
M3 x 50mm button head (quantity: 2 screws)
M4 x 10mm button head (quantity: 5 screws)
Cut and adhere a 1mm adhesive EVA foam sheet (found at most craft stores) to the interior ceiling of the lid to protect the battery and electronics.
(Optional) A layer of Kapton or Fishpaper tape underneath the foam layer will add insulation and protection in case something wears through the foam over time and many miles of riding.
Cut an acrylic strip to fit the LED panel (131mm x 11mm) from a thin acrylic sheet (common material, check your local hardware store.) Adhere the window to the outside of the box using a bead of waterproof silicone.
Fully insert and secure the charge port using waterproof silicone. It should lightly snap into place when the gasket falls into the groove.
Secure the M20 cable gland with waterproof silicone.
Use a Goretex waterproof patch to cover the vent hole on the opposite side as the charge port.
When closing the box after final testing, run a bead of waterproof silicone around the entire rim of the box to ensure the best watertight seal possible.
