DataVac Threaded Inflator Nozzle

This is a remix of the Metro DataVac Duster Nozzle designed to turn your blower into a high-powered inflator for pool floats, air mattresses, and more.

Instead of a friction-fit tip, this version features a potted hex pocket designed to hold a solid brass threaded insert. This allows you to securely screw on any standard 5/16-32 Schrader inflator tip without the massive backpressure blowing the nozzle off.

Hardware Required

1x Solid Brass Hex Tire Valve Cap: (5/16-32 UNEF female threads). The hex pocket is modeled for a cap measuring approximately 9.2mm wide (flat-to-flat) and 11mm tall https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F5HNZQ3Z

Two-Part Epoxy: For potting the insert

Standard Inflator Tips: Any standard sports needle or plastic tapered cone with Schrader threads

Assembly Instructions

Prep the Cap: Standard valve caps are closed at the top. Remove the rubber O-ring from inside the cap, clamp it down, and drill a hole straight through the top so air can flow through (1/4" drill bit)

Score the Brass: Scuff the outside flat edges of the hex cap with sandpaper or a file to give the epoxy a rough surface to grip

Pot the Insert: Apply a thin layer of two-part epoxy to the vertical walls of the printed hex pocket. (Do not pool glue at the bottom, or it will squish up and ruin your threads). Press the cap in flush and let it fully cure

Recommended Print Settings

Material: ABS or PETG. Do not use PLA. A DataVac generates a ton of heat when fighting backpressure, and a PLA nozzle will soften and fail almost immediately

Walls/Perimeters: 5 to 6 loops

Infill: 30% - 40% Gyroid (does not matter will be 100% solid)

Layer Height: 0.20mm
