Steering Column mount for Enhance Autos S3XY Dash. This mounts behind the steering wheel along the curve so the dash to not interfere with air blowing.
I had a different dash previously that occasionally got out of date which is why I bought the S3XY Dash. The previous dash mounted behind the wheel and I wanted this there as well. I tried the original mount but it interfered with either the air or the steering wheel could not be adjusted for my wife without knocking the dash loose.
I 3D scanned the upper steering column shroud on my 2023 Model Y. Then I created a form to get the geometry of the back of the shroud. The mount itself uses very similar geometry to what EHAuto shipped with the dash. I used the MagSafe mount from the original mount so you must have that before printing this.
The version I have in my car was printed:
Material: Generic PETG.
Layer Height: .1mm.
Infill: 15% gyroid.
Orientation: Big curve facing up.
Supports: Top part near the MagSafe mount.
When assembling the mount, use the screw and nut and MagSafe adapter that came with the S3XY Dash. DO NOT PUSH IN the side inserts until after you have mounted and aligned the dash. They can be popped out with an Allen key but are very snug.
The mount is attached to the steering column using 3M VHB tape cut to shape. There is an included jig you can use to position and center the mount. It's a little awkward since there isn't a good hard point to place it so you have to feel when the jigs curve sits correctly.
