I made this mounting block for the Synology TC500 camera as an adapter between a standard articulating arm mount and the manufacturer base for the camera.

This model is, for all intents and purposes, a slightly beveled cylinder, printed with a high infill percentage, and then intended to absorb screws from each mounting bracket type.

Some notes on printing and installing:

  • I have printed mine in PLA with a 80% infill, but PETG would likely be even more robust.

  • The block is 75mm in diameter and 25mm thick, and 3/4" screws on the arm side, with 1" screws from the Camera side.

  • Both screw types were the counter sink style with a course thread.

  • Once printed, I used the mounting plates from each side of the system to mark the block and then pilot drill.

  • PLA Melts so plan to clean your bit. Also, don't over screw or it will crack the block (especially with high infill).

  • I had considered going back and making indents or pre-formed holes in the pattern of the brackets before publishing, but realized others might have different brackets that might not match up...so yeah it's a plastic cylinder of about the right size...

Final Thoughts:

  • This same problem could have been solved more or less the same way with a chunk of wood, but I had more filament lying around than lumber, so here is a properly sized thing that does the job.
