About the Model
This is a highly accurate, reverse-engineered replacement part for a HotSpring cover lifter pivot joint. The original injection-molded factory parts are notorious for cracking or snapping over time due to constant torque, UV exposure, and heavy loads from water-heavy hot tub covers.
To ensure a perfect fit, this model was created by capturing an original, undamaged component using a high-resolution 3D scanner. The resulting mesh was then clean-aligned, structurally optimized, and reverse-engineered into a solid CAD model to guarantee proper mechanical tolerances, smooth pivot action, and seamless compatibility with the factory hardware.
Recommended Print Settings
Because this is a high-load mechanical joint exposed to constant outdoor elements (UV, moisture, and spa chemicals), material choice and slicing settings are critical:
Material: PETG, ASA (excellent for UV resistance), or ideally Nylon (PA / PA-CF) for maximum structural strength. Do not use standard PLA, as it will creep, warp under summer heat, and snap under load.
Perimeters (Wall Count): 4 to 6 lines minimum. (Structural strength comes from solid walls, not infill).
Infill: 40% to 70% using a strong, multi-directional pattern like Gyroid or Grid.
Layer Height: 0.2 mm provides a great balance between print time and layer adhesion.
Supports: [Yes / No — e.g., Yes, Organic/Tree supports are recommended for the underside overhangs].
