Originally I was going to mount the timer up/down on a 4x4 post. I had two of the timers and was going to basically make a distribution tree. In the end I decided to affix them directly to the house beside the hose bib in the horizontal orientation. The strap work well enough for me not to bother adapt it further. I used a little bracket to help prevent it from slightly rotating from straight when the system is pressurized.
