Halfmoon Wall Lamp is a simple 3D printed wall-mounted lamp / sconce with a half-moon shade shape.
It is designed for a ceramic E26/E27 lampholder and a low-power LED bulb.

The model was designed around the IKEA LED2201G8 LED bulb, but other LED bulbs up to 10 W should work if they have similar dimensions.
The reference bulb size is shown in the images: approximately Ø60 mm × 106.5 mm.

Important: use LED bulbs only.
⚠ Do not use incandescent or halogen bulbs.

The inside of the shade can be painted white or metallic. I painted mine with metallic paint, but plain white may actually give a more even light reflection. Metallic paint can create small “hot spots” / reflections on the wall.

Required parts

  • 1× ceramic E26/E27 lampholder, similar to the one shown in the photos

  • 1× M4×12 screw

    • 12–16 mm length should also work

  • 2× M3×10 screws

    • 8–12 mm length should also work

  • 2-core power cord, 2×0.75 mm², mains rated, 300 V or higher

    • You can also use a ready-made lamp cord with an inline switch

Files included:

- body.stl — main half-moon lamp body
- wire_holder.stl — cable / wire clamp
- Halfmoon_Wall_Lamp.3mf — PrusaSlicer project with support settings, seam placement and fuzzy skin settings

The 3MF file contains the print settings I used on my Prusa CORE One L with PETG. You can use it as a reference or slice the STL files with the settings below.

Print settings

Recommended settings are included in the 3MF file.

For slicing from STL:

  • Layer height: 0.20 mm or lower

  • Perimeters / walls: at least 3

  • Top solid layers: at least 5

  • Bottom solid layers: at least 5

  • Infill: 15-20% is enough

  • Supports: recommended

    • I used organic / tree supports for the upper half-dome overhang

    • See the slicer screenshots

  • Seam: I recommend placing the seam on the inner edge

  • Optional: fuzzy skin on the outer surface only

I printed the lamp in black PETG.

⚠ PETG is the minimum material I would recommend. Materials with better temperature resistance are also suitable.
Do not print this from PLA — it is not durable enough for this use and may soften or deform from heat. Even LED bulbs can reach around 50–60°C (30-40°C above the environment) near the bulb/socket area.

Assembly notes

After printing:

  1. Optionally paint the inside of the shade white or metallic.

  2. Install the ceramic E26/E27 lampholder.

  3. Secure the power cord with the printed wire holder.

  4. Use only a low-power LED bulb, maximum 10 W.

  5. Mount the lamp securely to the wall using suitable screws/anchors for your wall type.

⚠Electrical safety⚠

This is a DIY lamp body, not a certified commercial luminaire.

Mains electricity can be dangerous. Disconnect power before working on anything electrical. Use properly rated wire, a ceramic lampholder, insulated connections, strain relief, and follow your local electrical code.

If you are not confident working with mains wiring, ask a qualified electrician to do the wiring for you.

You are fully responsible for your own build and installation.
