A floating feeder disc designed for honeybees. Printed in PLA or PETG, it floats on water and allows bees to safely feed without drowning.
Size: 250 × 210 × 6mm stadium-shaped disc (fits Prusa MK4S bed), with a 5mm finger-lift peg 6mm above the surface for easy removal from the liquid.
Features:
150 conical bee access holes (⌀10mm entrance, ⌀3.5mm exit) — bees reach the liquid below but cannot fall through
Chamfered edges for a clean finish
Hex-grid hole pattern for maximum surface coverage and minimal material
Print settings: PLA or PETG, no supports needed.
5% gyroid infill — ultra-light, maximum buoyancy (~270g margin)
15% gyroid infill — recommended balance of strength and buoyancy (~185g margin)
Both settings float well. Gyroid infill is recommended for better resistance to the sugar water. Note: if using PLA long-term outdoors, PETG is more durable as PLA may degrade with prolonged moisture exposure.
