Hello everyone!

This is a Bionicle style head piece with Lego compatible stud connections where the eye stalks normally go. A good while back I commissioned a Mata style head CAD model from KingSidorak so that I could play around with it, and recently I had the idea to give the head stud connections for eyes so that I could put Mixels eyes behind masks. So, here are the results of that experiment!

Part Information

The "eyes" are the equivalent of two plates thick, and the holes in the middle of the studs are sized for Lego bar pieces.  I wasn't sure what to do with the back of the mask, but I figured that anti studs on the back would give the part even more utility in builds.

Printing Information

Due to the size and level of detail, I recommend printing this part at a more fine resolution than you might normally print at.  I toleranced all of the stud connection fittings around printing this part at 0.12mm layer height, but I did also test it at a 0.2mm layer height, and the stud connections were still serviceable.  Depending on your printer's settings and calibration, you may need supports when printing this part, but I was able to print the piece with only a brim using the print orientation below:

Sendoff

This model is not an exact copy of a Lego Mata Head, but hopefully it is a close enough imitation for those who are interested. I had tons of fun working on this project, and I hope everyone else enjoys it as much as I have!

A huge thank you to  KingSidorak for letting me commission him and for the fantastic CAD model he made! His work is insanely impressive, both in construction and concept, and I highly recommend you check out his online store where you can purchase prints of all his parts.
