I cut my IKEA IVAR side units so the shelf can fit under some ductwork. I changed my mind about the shelf location and wanted to re-attach the pieces I cut so I designed these brackets.

Not sure if anybody else would ever be in the same situation, but thought I might as well share.

How it works:

  • 4x #6 screw holes to secure each corner post to the bracket.

  • 2 holes on the back which uses the existing IVAR pin holes to keep the brackets in position while screwing. The pins can be removed after.

  • The shelves likely won't fit onto the side units on the bracket side, but the bracket only covers two holes.

  • The bracket itself is not load bearing. It simply braces the side unit pieces together and the load continues to travel down the side unit itself.

Printing:

  • Print in a vertical orientation as shown in the picture, like how the bracket would be used. This gives the print the most strength

  • Max walls/infill (3 walls should fill)

  • Brim recommended

  • No supports required
