Hardware that helps with taking pictures for 3d gaussian splatting.
This overview shows the basic principle. This is helper hardware to rotate your phone around the object you want to ‘scan’

Assembly instructions:
1) place the ‘stator bot’ on a even surface, use a anti slip rubber to prevent it from moving.

2) use any kind of oil for lubrication the rails on top of the ‘stator bot’ and the center pin

3) put on the ‘azimut arm’

4) screw in the ‘stator top’

5) attach the ‘elevation arm’ and secure it with a screw

6)

7)
8) attach the ‘tool holder’ (phone holder) to the elevation arm

Scanning process:
put your phone into the ‘tool holder and secure it with a screw

2. place a heavy object like a jar filled with water on the ‘stator top’. this is to stabilitze the stator and prevent it from moving during the rotation of the arm
3. place a subject you want to ‘scan’ in the center
4. start the video recording on the phone and slowly rotate the arm around the subject

6. adjust the elevation of the phone camera and do another pass (360 degree rotation around the object)

8. stop the video
You now can use the video images for processing (3DGS / photogrammetry / other analysis)
