This is a parametric filament clip.
It holds the end of your filament when you are done using a spool.
Other models:
Not necessarily “parametric”.
This model:
Actually parametric.
What's the advantage?
Spools come in different thicknesses depending on the company who made the spool. A clip will fit too loosely on one spool but will be too tight on a different one. If you use several brands of filaments, you'll need a parametric model to give each of your spools the best possible fit for its clip.
Main Parameters:
Diameter of the Filament: Adjust this if you aren't using 1.75 mm filament.
Spool Lip Thickness: Adjust this to adjust how tightly (or loosely) your clip presses onto your filament spool.
Knob Size: For printers that struggle with stringing, the tiny grip knobs can be a struggle. If you adjust the knob size and lip thickness in unison, you can make the goopiest printer print a halfway decent filament clip.
AI Transparency:
This design is the result of human/AI pair programming. I drove the design and physical testing, while Gemini handled the OpenSCAD math. The resulting models are completely deterministic (no AI artifacts) and have been strictly quality-tested on my own printers.
