This a desktop/workbench organizer I designed to clean up all of the hardware and electrical components I had floating around in my office. I've always been a big fan of the look of exposed fasteners which is why this design uses screws instead of other additive manufacturing methods. This design can easily be scaled up and configured to fit the available room and your storage needs.
Filament:
PET/PETG are good material choices as they prints easily, have excellent layer adhesion, are inexpensive, and should be robust enough for the job. This is my recommendation for the project.
PLA will generally work for indoor applications but will warp in the heat.
ASA/ABS/PA... are all fine materials as well but may not be quite as easy to print and will likely cost more.
Printer Settings:
Perimeters - For this project, I prefer 3 perimeters with my 0.6mm nozzle. Honestly, 2 perimeters with a 0.4mm nozzle is likely enough as well.
Infill - 20% is probably good enough for any perimeter count or nozzle size.
Layer height - This design doesn't really have features that come with layer height requirements. More layers will give a smoother surface, less layers will print faster. This one is up to you.
Support - Only required when printing the "Housing". Very little support material is printed. This part should be oriented on it's back (opposite the tray opening). The four corners have a little offset where the connector pieces fit. Use "Support on build plate only" option.
Assembly:
See exploded assembly view in pictures.
Connect housing sections using appropriate connector parts.
Designed to use M3x8 up to M3x16 flat head machine screws.
Screws I used came from this kit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0779PX4N4
Each housing section has 3 tray slots. Use any combination of tray(s) to fill the housing section.
Ex: 3x "Tray Single", 1x "Tray Double" + 1x "Tray Single", 1x "Tray Triple"
The "Tray Single" was designed to hold these mini tackle boxes. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C3LP4QB
