This is my attempt at a toolhead that features a filament cutter and an easy way to swap nozzles.
I do not recommend building this toolhead, I was able to print with it, but especially the input shaper did not agree with my design. I think this is related to the extruder and the way things are mounted. Part cooling is another issue. The toolhead uses a P2S fan, because I haven't gotten around to designing a 5015 solution, and I have not tested the duct with CFM analysis.
A lot of time went into designing this toolhead, and I think it has genuinely nice things that other toolheads do not offer:
Removable front cover, allowing for easy nozzle swapping
Front cover is connected through pogo pins
Cheap filament cutter
Completely hidden cables, cable routing was not an afterthought
Relatively slim width (the limiting factor is the part cooling fan)
Modular design, allowing different extruders (assuming they are adapted) without having to change up the whole toolhead
Built-in dual filament sensor support
Toolhead can be assembled and wired up outside the printer.
but there were several major issues that ultimately resulted in me abandoning this project and building an A4T with crossbow cutter instead:
Input Shaper is awful (and might always be, given how heavy it is)
Filament Sensors do not work, the holes are incorrectly sized and the switch to ball bearing size has to be adjusted to ensure they work reliably.
Nozzle to probe offset is large at 28mm
Filament cutter did not work reliably
Umbilical strain relief is suboptimal, it should use something like this instead https://www.printables.com/model/1777338-orbiter-2-ebb36-mount-with-pug-support
I upload this project in case someone wants to build upon it and see it to completion.
In case you are looking for a more usable solution, take a look at the RX toolhead.
