I wanted to terminate a four-core fiber cable (diameter 2mm) using fast connectors. Buying a premade termination box is too easy.
The box features two cable tie loops, one to hold the cable during splicing, another as a strain relief. A spool holds extra cable. The cover is held by four M3 wood screws. To protect the individual fiber cores I used insulation from a stranded cable and a bit of heat shrink tube.
Example dimensions for two adapters: width 74mm, height 110mm, depth 15.5mm.
The model calculations may contain minor bugs as I only needed a single box for two adapters.
