I designed this riser to work with the two 16" laptops that I use daily. I needed better airflow under my laptops to help with cooling. I also wanted a more comfortable keyboard angle.

This riser works nicely with Dell Precision 5500 series laptops and Lenovo ThinkPad P16v. It will work for other laptops as well but you will have to just try it out.

This riser has a groove in the top that the rear feet of your laptop will rest in. The two parts fit together tight enough to stay planted under you laptop but can easily be disassembled to throw in a backpack to go with you.

Printing:

This model is split into two parts to be able to print on large or small platform machines. Each half is right around 205mm long. Play around with translucent PETG and different infills for some fun results.

  • Material - PETG is my preference for this project as it can take some heat and is durable. PLA would probably work fine but could warp over time with a hot laptop.

  • Layer height - 0.2mm gives nice looking results, experiment for different surface appearances.

  • Perimeters - I prefer 2-3 with a 0.6mm nozzle for most prints. I would say a minimum of 2 perimeters even with a 0.4mm nozzle would be fine.

  • Support - None

  • Infill - 10% is enough
