A solid skull that prints unattended and lives on a desk all year.
Sutures, temporal lines, orbits and a full lower row of teeth, cut into the geometry rather than
suggested. At 60 % scale it is 50.5 × 60.0 × 56.9 mm and about 38 g of PLA — a proper paperweight,
not a trinket.
The photos are a real print of this file at 60 % scale, orange PLA, straight off the plate.
What is measured, not guessed
- Genuinely solid — 419.8 cm³ of mesh volume in the file, 53 % of its bounding box. That is what a
real solid reads as; a shell would come in around 4 %.
- Watertight — zero open edges, zero non-manifold edges, one connected solid, 199 980 triangles.
- No supports. 16.6 % of the surface is past 45°, and the largest flat ceiling on the whole model
is 0.60 cm² — the underside of the cheekbone, a sliver 31 mm long and a couple of millimetres deep.
It bridges. The orbits and the nasal opening are recesses, not tunnels.
- Flat base 511 mm² at 60 %, cut under the jaw. It stands square without a brim.
