🛸 UFO Dice – 3D Printable Magic Trick
Make dice vanish from your hand… and mysteriously appear inside the UFO!
UFO Dice is a compact, multi-phase magic trick redesigned from scratch for 3D printing. The set consists of two UFO-shaped boxes and specially prepared dice. It is small enough to carry in your pocket, easy to perform, and the same magical effect can be repeated several times, becoming more surprising with each phase.
The model is designed so that the printed parts can be combined with a few inexpensive materials and a small magnet to create a fully functional magic prop.
🖨 What to print
For the complete set print:
1×
ufo_dice_box_magnet– UFO box prepared for the magnetic insert1×
ufo_dice_box– standard box1×
ufo_dice_magnetin WHITE – special die with a Ø6 × 3 mm magnet cavity3×
ufo_dice_normalin WHITE1×
ufo_dice_normalin RED
The dice can of course be printed in any colors you prefer, but the classic routine uses four white dice and one contrasting red die.
🧲 Additional materials
Besides the printed parts, you will need a few inexpensive materials.
For the ufo_dice_box_magnet, cut a Ø59 mm circle from a rubber steel sheet / flexible ferrous sheet and glue it inside the box. This material is not a magnet itself — it provides a ferromagnetic surface that the magnet hidden inside the prepared die can attract to.
Rubber Steel Sheet:

Next, cover the steel sheet with a thin layer of self-adhesive faux suede / flocking fabric. Cut the fabric to at least Ø60 mm so that it completely covers the Ø59 mm steel insert.
The fabric gives the inside of the prop a cleaner, more professional finish, completely hides the steel sheet, and also helps reduce the sound of the dice moving inside the box.
Use the same minimum Ø60 mm fabric lining inside the second UFO box, but without the rubber steel sheet underneath.
Self-Adhesive Faux Suede Fabric:

For the special white ufo_dice_magnet, insert and glue a Ø6 × 3 mm neodymium magnet into the prepared cavity.

Before gluing the magnet permanently, test the die against the rubber steel sheet and make sure the mechanism works correctly. The rubber steel sheet itself does not have magnetic polarity, but testing everything before applying glue will prevent mistakes and ensure that the die is held securely.
For a clean assembly, the layers should be:
Magnetic UFO box:printed box → Ø59 mm rubber steel sheet → ≥ Ø60 mm faux suede
Regular UFO box:printed box → ≥ Ø60 mm faux suede
Prepared white die:ufo_dice_magnet → Ø6 × 3 mm neodymium magnet
Check the magnet orientation before gluing it permanently.
🔧 Assembly
The magnetic UFO box is assembled in layers:
printed box → rubber steel sheet → faux suede
The regular UFO box only requires:
printed box → faux suede
For the prepared die:
ufo_dice_magnet → Ø6 × 3 mm magnet
A small amount of CA/super glue can be used to secure the magnet and steel sheet. The self-adhesive suede can then be cut to shape with scissors or a hobby knife.
Make sure everything sits flat inside the box and that the fabric completely covers the steel insert. From the outside, the prepared components should look just like the ordinary ones.
✨ The Magic
Three white dice are placed on the table while a contrasting red die is sealed inside the UFO.
One by one, the white dice mysteriously vanish from the magician's hand or pocket and appear inside the UFO.
The first appearance is surprising.
The second makes the audience wonder how it could possibly happen again.
And by the final phase, when everyone knows exactly what to watch for, another die impossibly appears inside the UFO.
It is a wonderfully simple multi-phase routine: the same impossible event happens repeatedly, but the audience's attention and expectations change every time.
The prop is compact enough to slip into a pocket, requires very little setup, and can be performed almost anywhere.
Print it. Assemble it. Perform the impossible. 🛸🎲✨
