This is an adapter bracket I designed to fit an SFX PSU into an ATX location. I designed and tested it on a Saggitarius 8 Bay NAS Case and a 1STPLAYER SFX750.

Printed in PETG, but ABS would be tougher and hold heat better. Definitely don't use PLA.

Print Settings:

  • Walls: 5

  • Top/Bottom Layers: 3

  • Infill: 45% (Cubic)

  • Layer Height: 0.2 mm

Because the PSU is smaller, it doesn't block the cooler fan, so it can suck in air more freely. This bracket also increases the gap to the CPU, so based on my measurements, an 80mm cooler should fit (check the pictures for the clearance around the Thermalright AXP90 X53 and the motherboard).

Since the PSU is raised, you can fit a 120mm exhaust fan on the side panel. The extra vents help vent more hot air from the CPU—you might even be able to fit a 40mm exhaust fan in the back (haven't tested that yet). Better airflow is super important if you're using your NAS for video archiving or running local AI models.

I also suggest looking into custom cables when picking a PSU. Standard ATX PSUs have massive cables that waste a third of the space. SFX units sometimes have wires that are too short (like my bundled IDE cable). You can fix this by using a modular PSU and ordering custom cables. Also, modern PSUs don't usually have enough IDE cables (maybe one for four ports), and running 8 HDDs off one line might strain the PSU. A spare IDE cable can fix that.

If you have a different case, a mirrored version of this bracket might be helpful!
