CUSTOMIZABLE educational model: choose how open the gate valve is - closed, 12, 24 or 36 mm gate lift - and rebuild it in the free TrueGeometry Playground with a short paste-in command recipe. The included STL is the 24 mm preset (about two thirds open). Made for students and teachers to print and use in class.

UNTESTED DESIGN STUDY - please read first. This model has not been printed or test-fitted. It is a teaching and display model, not a working valve: nothing seals, nothing is rated for pressure and the handwheel does not turn a printed part. The parts are separate overlapping shells, not unioned, so check or repair the mesh in your slicer. The bolts are plain cylinders, not real threads. Scale, orientation, supports and material are your decisions.

What you get: a rising-stem (OS&Y) gate valve with a flanged body and 34 mm port, vertical housing, bonnet flange with 4 bolts, a yoke with two columns and a crossbar, a red handwheel, a gold wedge gate inside the body, a steel stem and a red position collar, on a plinth with two saddles. The stem rises through the handwheel, so the collar height shows how open the valve is.

Files:

1. STL, 24 mm lift preset, native TrueGeometry Playground export: 130 x 216 x 120 mm (X, Y, Z), Y up. 15,596 triangles, closed mesh.

2. Recipe text file: full Playground command recipe plus preset lines for L = 0, 12, 24 and 36 mm.

3. How-to-run guide PDF: open Playground, paste the recipe, change the opening, export an STL.

Classroom ideas: print one valve per group at a different preset and have students read the opening from the stem height. Ask for the formula for any lift L (Gate = L, Stem = L + 70, Collar = L + 104, StemCap = L + 122).

How to customize: open the Playground, paste the recipe in two chunks with Script and Run, then paste one 4-line preset block and Run again. Step-by-step article with FAQs and tables: https://blog.truegeometry.com/0_0_0_0/blogs/post-a122a249.html

Built with native Playground commands only: no external scripts and no boolean cuts. AI-assisted design. License CC BY-NC 4.0: share and adapt with credit to TrueGeometry for non-commercial and educational use. Commercial use requires consent from TrueGeometry.
